Yesterday evening (Thursday 12th September), Hillingdon Conservatives delivered a motion requesting the Mayor of London reconsider Hillingdon Council’s offer to buy and maintain Uxbridge Police station.
Considering MP for Uxbridge & South Ruislip, Boris Johnson’s, recent announcement of an additional 20,000 police officers to be recruited, it is vital that these officers have a location based in our major town centre from which to operate from.
Despite overwhelming support from local residents and Uxbridge resident associations, the local Labour Party voted against this proposal to support our local police.
With the motion being passed by a majority vote and with applause from local residents, pressure will continue to be applied on the Mayor of London to reverse his decision to close Uxbridge Police station and allow the Council to purchase the facility.
“Last night’s vote demonstrates that in Uxbridge the Labour Party have given up on residents locally and nationally. Only Hillingdon Conservatives are continuing to put their residents first - we engage, we listen and we represent our residents to ensure their voices are heard."
